About Michele’s Design portfolio

I lead every design with empathy.

Thank you for taking some time to get to know my design projects.

I first started as an instructional designer working in simulations at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railways National Technical Training Center on the campus of Johnson County Community College, where I also taught writing composition. I have designed and developed numerous courses.

I took a few screenshots to showcase my different design projects with the most popular elearning technology platforms.

I have used many design tools not represented in this portfolio, including Adobe Captivate.

For some projects, the subject matter expert provided the content in a PowerPoint. However, for most of my projects, I developed the content by researching, interviewing subject matter experts, observing learners completing job tasks, and reading original source material.

I lead every design with empathy for my coworkers, clients, subject matter experts, and of course, learners.

quiz and jeopardy game in articulate

The client, an in-house attorney for an international organization, gave me the PowerPoint presentation she was using to deliver virtual ethics and compliance training for onboarding and annual refresher for all employees. She was amazed at the interactivity of the Jeopardy! style game and the short knowledge quiz.

air traffic controller training in zoom, blackboard, and articulate

I have worked on numerous projects bringing face-to-face courses into a virtual instructor-led learning environment. I designed this “Getting Started Guide” in Articulate as an example of how I would bring Air Traffic Controller training for Terminal Basic Radar into a virtual platform using Zoom, Blackboard, and Articulate.

References

I site my references and original source materials in my courses. I will usually link the references for learners.

Content in Blackboard

I organize the content into a format that makes sense for the learners and instructors. This is a screenshot of how the content is organized in Blackboard. The course was a four week course, divided into two modules. Module 1 covered academics, and Module 2 consisted of lab simulations.

Zoom

I have experience integrating virtual delivery platforms, such as links to Zoom, within Blackboard and other courses. This was a screenshot included in the “Getting Started Guide” in Articulate Rise.

Blackboard Navigation Training Using Camtasia

I used Camtasia to record my voice narration on how to navigate the Blackboard course, which I put in the “Getting Started Guide” in Articulate Rise.

technical mobile app simulation in articulate

With Articulate Storyline, I recorded screen shots and screen activity to create a short simulation to roll out a new technology platform, a new mobile app, for an aviation company. The simulation of the mobile app is part of a training course in Articulate Rise.

cybersecurity training in vyond

I have experience with designing and developing animated training videos, even for adult learners about serious topics.

I read an article on six common pitfalls for cybersecurity pros, which I used as content to create this short training video in Vyond.

camtasia software simulation

I wanted to share with my peers how to add characters in Vyond. I used Camtasia to record a simulation for a how to guide.

onboarding welcome packet in canva

I designed this sample onboarding welcome packet using Canva.

strategy instruction content development

I am really good at writing first letter mnemonic memory strategies from more complex content.

I wrote this CUE Card strategy as part of a course for a video coaching program for a client.

leadership development content development

As an International Coach Federation Professional Certified Coach, I have designed, developed, and delivered numerous courses that align with an organization’s leadership development program competencies.

I will help you make sense of the sticky notes.
